Our Mission
Rock Art Cards is a unique online store created with a passion for art, nature, and giving back. Founded by archaeologist and artist Fiona Steele of Riverport, Nova Scotia, the store features hand crafted greeting cards made from original paintings inspired by the beauty of the earth and the natural world.
Every purchase helps support an important cause — $1 from each card sold is donated to Make-A-Wish Canada, helping bring hope and joy to children living with critical illnesses.
I am an Archaeologist (and artist) based out of Riverport, Nova
Scotia. I have always had a love of rocks & nature since a young
child. I studied Archaeology and looked at rocks & fossils as pieces of natural art. I became passionate about art itself during my
youngest son’s illness & long stay at the IWK hospital, where I
somehow melded the two loves together to create what I call Rock
Art. During this time, I used my art as a fundraising tool to raise
money & awareness for children’s cancer research & slowly my art grew from there. I am now very happy to present my art in the form of note cards (& prints upon request) to the general public, so that you, too, can enjoy the look & feel of our local Nova Scotia surroundings in the form of art. There are rocks from Lot 5 (Oak Island) as part of the collection. More to come… A portion of the proceeds of the sales will go to “Make-A-Wish Foundation,” which my son was a recipient of (and for which my family will always be grateful for).
